Upcoming Events

“Turn the Page:  Six Weeks With the Best-selling Book of All Time!”  We continue today with week five of our adventure through the Bible as we consider the question, “What about the weird stuff?”  Truthfully, some of the Bible just seems bizarre.  It records the dreams and visions of God’s people through thousands of years.  We’ll take a look at some of these and learn ways to understand them today.

Everyone is Welcome for the Ministry Celebration Brunch and Church Conference!  Following worship this morning, please join your church family for brunch and a time of celebration and decision-making, downstairs in Faith Hall.  There is plenty of food for everyone and your participation is highly valued.  Our meeting will be led by Rev. Mike Davis, our District Superintendent, and we will receive our 2009 Ministry Report, continue planning from last weekend’s “A New Season” Retreat, elect leadership for 2010, and approve our ministry budget.  See you there following worship!

Updates on Missions With Haiti.  Thank you so much for your support of the Health Kits for Haiti through the United Methodist Committee on Relief.  Our congregation prepared 90 Health Kits which are on their way to bring simple, much needed personal hygiene items to folks who have been displaced by the earthquake.  We will continue to receive special offerings, Health Kit items, and basic medical supplies for Partners in Development.  You can read updates about all of these ministries, including information about sponsor children with PID, at www.pidonline.org and at www.umcor.org.

Ash Wednesday Service on February 17.  Please mark your calendars now and plan on participating in this ancient worship tradition that marks the beginning of Lent, the 40 days of preparation for Easter.  Worship will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include prayers, confession, and receiving ashes on the forehead for those who would like.  For more information, please speak with Pastor Meredith, pastormeredith@cumcbyfield.org or call the church office, 978-465-5946.

Pastor Meredith's Blog

  • Turn the Page Series

Over the next few week, we'll be learning about the Bible in our Sunday and Thursday worship services.  Whether this is your first time opening a Bible or if you're a Bible expect, I think that you'll get a lot out of looking at the Bible together.  Come each week, and feel free to e-mail me your Bible questions: pastormeredith@cumcbyfield.org.

2/7 - "What about the weird stuff?"

OK, some of the Bible seems just bizarre.  It records the dreams and visions of God's people through thousands of years, and some of them are just weird.  Together we'll approach the spiritual visions recorded in the Bible, and we'll learn how to understand them today.

2/14 - "What can we learn from the Bible?"

Through its stories, parables, advice, and proverbs, the Bible teaches us how people have related to God in the past.  We'll look at how these teachings can help us understand our relationship with God today.
